Welcome back to The Bendy Bulletin! A recent in-clinic experience led me to revisit one of my routine recommendations - and it may be more relevant than you think.

A patient told me she felt better after switching from a stainless-steel bottle back to a BPA-free Nalgene. She had seen a post on TikTok suggesting metal bottles can worsen symptoms in sensitive individuals. My initial reaction was skepticism - I typically recommend stainless steel or glass to reduce plastic exposure - but she improved.

So I reviewed the physiology more closely, and in certain phenotypes (especially mast cell activation, migraine, dysautonomia, and hormone-sensitive patients) the mechanism makes sense.

This is not about demonizing stainless steel. It’s about tolerance variability.
